Innovate * Collaborate * Transform

Social Innovation Actions operates as a living lab think tank that serves as a catalyst for innovation, collaboration and collective action. We focus on bringing people together to solve society's ‘wicked problems’:
*challenging and urgent social problems with numerous causes and effects
* involves a number of different stakeholders with different views, thus making it inherently difficult to solve.

We engage in projects that drive positive change and engage. Through a participatory and inclusive approach, we aim to empower stakeholders to work together towards building a better future for all.

Social Innovation Actions builds strategic partnerships that drive systemic change by fostering educational initiatives that catalyze a paradigm shift in teaching and learning over long-term horizons. Whether addressing thematic challenges like the Twin Transition of decarbonization and digitalization, combating environmental degradation and biodiversity loss, or tackling the urgent impacts of climate change, our approach empowers educators to equip students with the skills needed to navigate a VUCA world — one defined by

volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity.

Through applied research, innovative pedagogy and technology, and collaborative frameworks, our team of researchers and teachers supports educators in integrating problem-solving, critical thinking, and adaptability into learning environments, ensuring students are prepared to lead and innovate in an ever-evolving global landscape. By fostering collaboration among educators, researchers, policymakers, and community stakeholders, we create transformative solutions that respond to the evolving demands of education
in a rapidly-changing world.

Our initiatives emphasize long-term impact, equipping educators in both formal and non-formal learning environments with innovative pedagogical strategies borrowing from proven frameworks that improve learning outcomes, such as the UNESCO Information & Communication Technologies Competency Framework for Teaching, the European Digital Education Plan, and DigiEduHack.com. Social Innovation Actions programming aligns with global initiatives that promote the Twin Transition of decarbonization and digitalization, such as the SDGs, the EU Green Deal, Mission Ocean, Biodiversity Strategy 2030, Farm-to-Fork, and Digital Education Plan. It promotes entrepreneurship in alignment with EntreComp, and supports skills development that help students apply critical thinking and creativity to problem solving, learn to work in teams and collaborate, and acquire effective communication skills these are elements needed to navigate complex challenges, enhance employability and navigate through life. Through interdisciplinary approaches, open schooling methodologies, and evidence-based practices, we cultivate resilient learning ecosystems that continuously adapt, ensuring equitable and future-ready education systems, the building blocks for entrepreneurship and social innovation, and lifelong learning.

Team members at SOCIAL INNOVATION ACTIONS have extensive experience to lend as educators, policy specialists, researchers, and programming managers to participate in research and innovation projects, with a history as core partners and workpackage leaders in Horizon and Erasmus+.

In its research activities, SIA adopts an interdisciplinary approach that combines and develops both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. We are dedicated to following the action-research principle - methodology that combines research with practical action to drive continuous improvement and real-world problem-solving. It is a collaborative, iterative process that involves identifying issues, implementing solutions, evaluating outcomes, and refining approaches based on feedback and evidence, and enables continuous improvement and meaningful stakeholder engagement. By utilizing its methodologies, we ensure that our approaches are dynamic, evidence-based, and responsive to evolving challenges, fostering innovation

and practical impact.
